National Institute of Health Research Collaboration  for Leadership in Applied Health Research and care Leicester Northamptonshire and Rutland (NIHR CLAHRC LNR)

 

CLAHRCs are Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care are collaborative partnerships between a University and the surrounding NHS organisations, focused on improving patient outcomes through the conduct and application of applied health research. It is one of the Clinical Research Networks for England.

Aims and objectives
 

  • Conduct applied health research (in long-term conditions) in new ways that can more rapidly inform practice
  • Increase research capacity so partner NHS organisations are better able to generate new research evidence
  • Increase research capacity so partner NHS organisations are better able to make use of existing research evidence

Public Engagement

Part of the CLAHRCs engagement work involves outreach work with the local community. CLAHRC-LNR is involved with two projects that aim to promote health research and health messages locally:  eg HERO which aims to: 

  • Educate and inspire people to take responsibility for their own health, diet and well-being.
  • Promote awareness of the links between an unhealthy diet, a sedentary lifestyle and serious health problems in later life.
