UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS OF LEICESTER NHS TRUST (UHL)
Living with diabetes becomes a lifelong learning process once you are diagnosed.
The NHS Guidelines recommend that people with type 1 and 2 diabetes are offered patient education programmes, officially known as structured education whether you are newly diagnosed, or have had diabetes for years. The aim is to allow you to gain knowledge and skills from the experts to enable you to manage your own diabetes on a daily basis.

The University Hospital of Leicester NHS trust’s (UHL) Diabetes and Endocrinology department have and run several Structured Education /Support groups for people with diabetes. These are led by the diabetes specialist nurses (DSN), diabetes specialist dietitian, diabetes educators and consultants that have been trained to deliver the structured education.
