Free UHL Courses on literature searching, finding evidence on the Internet and critical appraisal! See Training Calender

Many UHL employees have done work that is good enough to publish, but would like a bit of moral support to encourage them to actually do it. To help people over the publishing hurdles the UHL Clinical Librarians have started a writing club. All welcome contact the library for details

    YOUNG DIABETOLOGIST FORUM (YDF)

The YDF is an organisation for diabetes specialist registrars, led and run by diabetes specialist registrars. It was established in 2002 and has now grown to over 500 members. The YDF delivers a number of educational events throughout the year:

  • Annual YDF day, March
  • ABCD-YDF Kings Fund Management Course, May
  • Insulin Pump Course, May
  • YDF Research Day, August
  • YDF/OCDEM “Diabetes-State of the Art”, November
  • Diabetes Foundation Course, December
  • YDF Scotland, January
  • YDF Community Diabetes Course, January

Dr Emma Wilmot, who is currently working as a clinical research fellow in the Leicester Diabetes research team, will take over as chair of the YDF in March 2010. Emma has been a member of the YDF committee since 2005 and feels that the YDF plays a crucial role in the ongoing education of diabetes specialist trainees, delivering a range of free national educational events. The YDF also facilitates communication between diabetes trainees and national organisations: Diabetes UK, ABCD, SfE and the SAC. Over the next year it is Emma’s hope that the YDF will go from strength to strength continuing to deliver highly rated education events and continuing to communicate on issues important to trainees throughout the UK.
