Change to lipid modification NICE guideline (CG67)
Changes have been made to the NICE guideline on 'Cardiovascular risk assessment and the modification of blood lipids for the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease' (CG67). The changes relate to recommendations on methods of cardiovascular risk estimation. Obesity data briefings The National Obesity Observatory has published the following 'Key data briefings' which compile up-to-date information and data about obesity and its determinants in an easily readable format. Drug alert: Glibenclamide 5mg tablets
The MHRA, via the Central Alerting System, has issued a Drug Alert class 3: Teva UK Limited are recalling some batches of Glibenclamide 5mg tablets in Teva UK Limited and Generics (UK) Limited livery as a precautionary measure because routine stability testing has indicated that the specification for tablet dissolution may not be met after 12 months from manufacture. Exenatide may now be prescribed in primary care by prescribers who are competent to do so. A training program will be available for those who wish to prescribe exenatide and should be completed prior to prescribing it.
